SilverStreak Social is an inclusive, free-to-join community group drawing on the varied interests of our silver readers.
Hosted as a WhatsApp community, SilverStreak Social unites likeminded silvers in Singapore with regular gatherings – often organised and led by fellow Silvers! – centred around the passions that drive us in our golden years.
Whether you’re looking for walking buddies, fellow travellers with a love for exploration, or simply a new friend to discuss all things food, SilverStreak Social might be what you’re looking for.

- What an amazing day! We strolled through Marina Barrage to the Bay East Garden, soaked in the city views while clocking 5.5km, and ended with delicious local food at Old Airport Road. This is what we love about our Jalan-Jalan sessions—good vibes, great company, and plenty of laughter along the way!

- Nothing brings us together like a good makan session! SilverStreak and our Makan Kakis had a fantastic time grilling and chilling over a hot charcoal grill, making new friends and discovering our new go-to makan spot.
- Jalan-Jalan Kakis – MacRitchie Prunus Trail

- We explored MacRitchie Reservoir today, starting with the Prunus Trail. Some of the more active kakis decided to tackle the treetop walk, while the others jalan-jalaned to the lesser-known parts of Singapore's biggest reservoir, like the bridge and even the tomb of a war hero (guess who?). Luckily, our adventures wrapped up just as the heavy downpour started.

- Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, our enthusiastic seniors were full of energy at the morning session of this edition of Photo Kakis. We learnt about how to make use of light to take more interesting photos, as well as other simple but effective photography techniques using Sony cameras. The session ended on a high note, as we feel more confident about taking photos after it.

- No lunch coma for the Photo Kakis as we learnt about street photography through a photo walk with the Sony trainers. We experimented with leading lines and the different camera settings as we found interesting shots in the ordinary. Our photo kakis were all motivated to practise taking more photos after the session.

- We savoured Taiwanese classics like Lu Rou Mien, Sweet Potato Porridge with Mei Cai Pork Belly and Beef Noodle Soup, presented very stylishly. Particularly enchanting was how tea was served in glass teapots with an hourglass timer on the side, to get the infusion just right. It was a lovely lunch enjoyed with new foodie friends.

- We jalan-jalaned down the Green Corridor through old train tracks now filled with flora and gorgeous underbridge murals to Rifle Range Nature Park. The Culugo Deck overlooking the former Sin Seng Quarry was the pinnacle of today’s hike, and with the good weather, a breeze to get there with the new friends made today.
- Photo Kakis – Workshop for Seniors

- This Photo Kakis session put our skills to the ultimate test as we learnt about the intricacies of portrait photography. We then got to test out our new knowledge and Sony’s Eye AF technology by snapping pics of some seniors who #BreakTheSilverCeiling by defying ageing stereotypes. Our photo kakis all left the session with more confidence in taking photos of their friends and families.

- It was a great sharing session by different RSVP volunteers serving various volunteering opportunities from training to guiding. There's even a mini open house where our kakis can find out more. We left the session with a clearer understanding of the available volunteering options as well as more information on RSVP's training programme for volunteers.

- Gorgeous tranquil greenery, artistic sculptures and historical buildings: We saw it all this morning as we explored Fort Canning Park together. We completed 2.5km together as we chatted and walked with new friends at this park within a city.

- Such a joy today learning some basic photo taking skills while discovering the hidden spots at Holland Village with Sony. We ended the session feeling more confident in handling camera equipment and taking nicer photos.

- It was a feast for our senses this Photo Kakis outing at the Sentosa Sensoryscape, where we honed our camera skills with a spot of night photography, soaked in the sea breeze, and enjoyed each other's company.

- We got lucky with the weather for this Jalan-Jalan to Labrador Park. From nature to history at the nature reserve, to the glitz and glamour at Keppel Bay, it was a fun 5km morning walk through different facets of Singapore. With the end point at Seah Im Food Centre, it was a good brunch reward for a morning well spent.

- On Jalan-Jalan Kakis' 7km MacRitchie hike, we spotted a monitor lizard, turtles and mushrooms. The tranquil scenery, good weather and great company culminated in a well-deserved meal at Shunfu Market.

- We started with a walk through the Central Business District, but, tummies rumbling, soon defaulted to the yummier idea of beating the lunch crowd for brunch at Golden Shoe Food Centre (now renamed to Market Street Hawker Centre).

- What fun we had at newly opened Nana Dolly's, a Peranakan-inspired cafe run by a true-blue Nyonya matriach and her family. The restaurant was full to bursting with 36 participants, but our hearts (and tummies) were fuller!

- We learned how to make popiah from the family-run Kway Guan Huat Joo Chiat Popiah, best known for having one of the thinnest popiah skins in town. For our hard work, we were duly rewarded with some yummy turnip-filled rolls to much on.

Can my friends join the community?
Of course! All are welcome. Simply send your friends the link for the WhatsApp group they’re interested in joining, and we will approve the request.
Can my friends join an activity without joining the WhatsApp group?
Definitely! You may include his/her name in the sign-up that is posted in the WhatsApp group without your friend being in the group. All you’ll need to do is make payment (if applicable) for your friend as well.
Must I join every event?
There is no obligation to participate regularly in SilverStreak Social events to keep membership (though we’d love to see you more often). Come for the activities that interest you – or better yet, suggest it in the group!
Does SilverStreak make money from these events?
SilverStreak is the editorial arm of our parent company, Distilleri. SilverStreak is being sustained through strategic partnerships. Thanks to these collaborations, we are able to keep the events affordable for our community – thus, they are often free, or at the very least, cost price.
Are all community leaders affiliated with SilverStreak?
SilverStreak Social community events are sometimes organised by community members on a voluntary basis. These members have experienced the camaraderie formed during community events and are excited to share their interests and knowledge with fellow community members, leading them to start an activity under SilverStreak’s community umbrella.
