Alex, a widow and empty nester, is almost 18 again! In the past three years, he’s walked 1,600 kilometres across Italy and Spain, a distance he last managed as a National Service boy. His first walk, on an extended version of the Camino Francés, inspired his book A Glimpse of Heaven: Grief, Self and Community on the Camino which is available at all good bookshops. Through his travels, he’s realised that anything is possible if you set your mind to it and that age needn’t be an excuse if you don’t want it to be. He plans to keep walking until he finds something else to do.
