What New Tech Is Coming Up For Silvers?
At the annual biggie electronic show, Consumer Electronics Show, in Las Vegas, there was a host of new tech that silvers could find of use.
This is the event that launched the VCR, CD player, Xbox, Oculus and many other things that have become part of our lives.
Though the VCR and CD player are already well on the way out, CES2024 threw up some exciting (and quirky) innovations.

LG Signature OLED T
The LG Signature OLED T is a transparent 77″ 4K immersive TV that transforms your living space by blending with your surroundings. You can mount it on a wall or place it on a stand.
It has a black screen that projects the image, while the transparent display lets you see the room behind the screen.
It’s a great way to showcase your art, or share family images.
This new tech product uses wireless audio and video transmission technology, and there are no cables to worry about tripping over.
Samsung Premiere 8K projector
On that note, Samsung’s Premiere 8K projector is the home entertainment product for movie lovers that can connect to any screen without any cables.
You can place the projector anywhere within 10 meters of the screen and enjoy a clutter-free setup with its Wireless One Connect Box.
This innovation is able to project a 150” image from just a few inches away from the wall.
The projector’s impressive 100-watt audio system features 8.2.2 channels and Dolby Atmos support, allowing you to experience audio that surrounds you.
Sennheiser Momentum Sport Earbuds
The Sennheiser Momentum Sport Earbuds are more than mere audio companions, they’re fitness allies.

DeRucci AI-powered mattress and smart pillow
While you worry about AI bringing about the end of humanity, you might as well use this new tech to get a good night’s sleep.
DeRucci is a Chinese sleep health company that showcased an AI-powered mattress and smart pillow that promises to help you sleep better.
The mattress features 23 sensors that monitor small changes in temperature, sleep position and heart rate throughout the night.
It uses AI tech to adjust everything to your body shape and sleep position and will alert you to any potential health issues arising from your sleep data.
A layer of air bags responds to changes in position to better support your spine, neck and hips.
DeRucci’s complementary smart pillow combats snoring by monitoring for slight movements of the sleeper, then adjusting the loft and moving the position of a sleeper’s head.
In addition to reducing snoring, the risk of sleep apnea is also reduced.
According to an internal clinical study, the company says its pillow can reduce snoring by up to 89%.
You may, however, pass out when you discover that the pillow is expected to cost nearly US$1,000 with the mattress priced at more than US$8,000.
Anura MagicMirror
The Anura MagicMirror, made by digital health company NuraLogix, is the first mirror of its kind that analyses the blood flow in your face to check vitals like blood pressure and estimate your risk of heart disease.
This innovation guesses your age based on your skin, as well as how stressed you might be. The MagicMirror uses NuraLogix’s Affective AI technology, DeepAffex.
As the use of AI advances, refining both pattern recognition in medicine and at-home wellness tracking, the idea of a new tech device like the MagicMirror may become less far-fetched.
Nanoleaf smart lights
Nanoleaf makes some of the best smart lights around, but this is their first ceiling-mounted product.
Like other Nanoleaf lights, it has fully-customisable colour tones, colour scenes like rain and sun shower, and can sync with other smart home gadgets to follow an automatic schedule.
It would be well placed in a room where the bed-ridden can view more than the plain ceiling, especially with the Skylight Expansion Packs.
It uses a traditional hardwire connection for power, and connects to Wi-Fi to sync with Apple, Google, Amazon and Samsung smart homes.
