Beneath its crackling crown, expect shredded purple and yellow sweet potatoes, crispy shredded conpoy and edible gold flakes along with youtiao, crushed peanuts, fresh yellowtail slices and umami sakura shrimp. The yusheng platter is available for both dine-in and takeaway from January 6 to February 12.

2. Bali Thai: Yusheng with a Thai-inspired twist
Tired of familiar flavours, but don’t want to stray too far from the tried-and-true? Bali Thai’s selection of affordably priced yusheng platters sees a Siam-influenced infusion of Thai fragrant herbs, cashew nuts, mango and a proprietary Thai-style sauce added to the festive treat.
The standard version with toppings like crispy fish skin or deep-fried mushrooms feeds five people for a starter price of $43.85, though more luxurious accompaniments like 10-head abalone and smoked salmon will cost you extra.

3. Man Fu Yuan: Slither into the Year of the Snake with an auspicious snake yusheng
Eight interlocking snakes – each representing their own distinct blessing for Chinese New Year 2025 – are artfully arranged to form the Chinese fu character (meaning fortune) in Man Fu Yuan’s Blazing Snake Fortune Yusheng platter.
The magnificent creation bears the wishes of peace, joy, health, prosperity, harmony, wealth, support and good fortune on a platter fit for 10 – but that’s not all.
The luxurious $988++ salad pulls out all the stops with a smorgasbord of resplendent ingredients like rock lobster, ikura, Hokkaido crispy shredded dried scallop, salmon sashimi, crispy fish skin and grilled eels, smothering it all in a savoury and fragrant mix of roasted sesame dressing and shallot oil.

4. Peach Garden: An 18m-long yusheng snaking through your entire extended family
Know anyone with a huge extended family? Peach Garden’s yusheng offerings are available in supersized portions snaking across 6m, 12m, 18m and – get this – a full 28m.
For an idea of just how much yusheng we’re talking about, the 18m version comes with over 250kg of ingredients and is said to be able to feed around 150 people. The cost of feeding the entire kampong and more? A cool $5,288. (The smallest and more reasonable 6m variant caters to a crowd of 50 for $3,288.)

Amid the indulgences of the festive season, it might be wise to take a step back instead and nosh on something that’s a little more virtuous – both in terms of ingredients and cause. 6. Jade: Toss to prosperity with a "sure win" yusheng
There’s never too many ways to say “Huat ah!” (a Hokkien phrase used to welcome prosperity), especially during a festive lohei – so why not get your yusheng to say it for you too?
Jade’s Deluxe Edition “Sure Win” Yu Sheng ($688) plays on the snake motif in both moniker – the Sure sounds like she, as in the Chinese character for snake – and form with a three-dimensional serpent hewn from finely sliced vegetables. In a final luck-bringing touch, the yusheng platter gets a scatter of the restaurant’s signature champagne jelly for a fancy, gold cube-esque sheen worthy of the auspicious season.
But if the magnificent asking price of $688 is too much to bear for the yusheng platter, shoot for its more affordable cousin, the Gold Rush Snake Yusheng (from $78), which expresses this year’s zodiac animal by way of hand-painted five spice powder calligraphy.
Both are similarly adorned with Norwegian smoked salmon and are available at the restaurant for dine-in only from January 13 to February 12. Alternatively, the take-home Eight Happiness Gold Rush Snake Yusheng ($138, feeds eight) – which comes with the Chinese character for prosperity, fa, at very its centre – is up for sale beginning January 18, with the same end date.
