National Day 2023: 5 Sky-High Restaurants To Catch Red Lions’ Parachute Show, Flag Fly-Past & Aerial Display
Failed to ballot for your National Day 2023 tickets, but still want to catch the parade live on 9 August?
Here’s a suggestion – instead of jostling with the crowds at The Padang – or booking an NDP staycation – snag a seat at Singapore’s highest restaurants, many of which are scattered around Marina Bay and therefore prime spots to catch the festivities from, comfortably seated with cocktail in hand.
Another bonus that comes with the high-rise vantage point:
You’ll be far closer to the action when it comes to some of the annual displays that accompany the show, including the Red Lions’ parachute show, flag fly-past by chinook helicopters and aerial display – not to mention the grand fireworks finale.
Check out six of the highest restaurants and bars to catch the National Day Parade 2023 from.

Perched on Marina Bay Sands’ 57th floor is Lavo Italian Restaurant & Rooftop Bar, boasting amazing views of the entire bay and the Padang beyond.
On National Day (9 August) only, expect the contemporary Italian-American joint to serve one of Singapore’s culinary icons – whole chilli crab, paired with crispy deep-fried mantou ($69).
Other National Day specials include whole lobster thermidor with a side salad and lobster bisque ($80), as well as an elevated take on ice cream sandwich, featuring red velvet buns alongside strawberry and vanilla gelato in homage to Singapore’s national colours.

Although Swissotel The Stamford’s 70th floor restaurant SKAI is closed for a private event on National Day, you can instead head to SKAI Bar, an adjoining watering hole that’s all about easy drinking rosé.
Its city views from that height are no less spectacular, especially once you factor in the hotel’s strategic location directly opposite the Padang – perfect for this year’s National Day Parade.
On the big day, it will be offering only a three-course set menu with wine pairings at $158 per person, featuring flounder and Wylarah Wagyu from Australia.

SKAI Bar
Location: 2 Stamford Road, Level 70, #70-02 Swissôtel The Stamford, Singapore 178882

On the menu at Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant is a convivial collection of fine Sichuan and Cantonese cuisine along with breathtaking views of the entire city from its 60-storey perch in UOB Plaza.
Dinner set menus start from $108 per person, though you can also refer to the expansive a la carte menu to select your own stir-fries, tea-infused dishes or quintessentially Sichuan spicy fare.
Diners who visit on National Day can also enjoy a complimentary ‘Prosperity Longevity Tree’ studded with deep-fried sesame balls to commemorate Singapore’s 58th birthday bash.

Ring in National Day with Singapore’s highest farm-to-table restaurant in Kaarla, an Australian grill-focused joint by 1-Group.
Towering above the city skyline on the 51st storey of the CapitaSpring building, the restaurant promises unpretentious flavours, prepared simply and elementally with fire using seasonal produce, including ingredients from its backyard 10,000 sqft urban farm.
These include a mix of appetisers from the land and sea (starting from $25), before graduating to mains like an Australian Wagyu tenderloin with a red wine jus ($98) and Western Australian lamb saddle with roasted zucchini and a piquillo pepper sauce ($58).

Kaarla
Location: 88 Market Street, CapitaSpring, #51-02, Singapore 048948
Opening Hours: Weekdays, noon – 2.30pm, 6pm – 11pm; weekends, 11.30am – 3.30pm, 6pm – 11pm

5. 1-Atico

Dual-concept restaurant and lounge 1-Atico presents an Argentinian grill joint and Japanese-Peruvian gastrobar in one, aptly named Fire and Flnt (as in flint).
Its placement on ION Orchard’s 55th floor naturally means that customers get a great view of the cityscape and Singapore’s premier shopping belt below, though it is admittedly situated slightly further from the action at the Padang (which is why we left it to the end of our list).
It remains nonetheless a worthy joint for catching the fireworks and National Day Parade festivities if you’d rather sacrifice proximity for a convenient escape at the end of the night – or having a hankering for Japanese-accented tacos and smoky grilled steaks.

1-Atico
Location: 2 Orchard Turn, #55-01, ION Orchard, Singapore 238801
Opening Hours: Daily, noon – 11pm
Tel: +65 8028 1489
